Bertha Robbins

Bertha Elnora Robbins, age 91, of Virginia, Illinois and formerly of Rushville, Illinois passed away at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

She was born April 12, 1926 in Liberty, Illinois the daughter of John and Mamie Wolback Kerker.  She married William Robbins and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Robbins was a homemaker and had assisted her husband with the operation of the family farm.

She attended rural Schuyler County, Illinois schools.

Bertha was known as an excellent cook and she enjoyed embroidering and being outdoors, gardening and watching the hummingbirds, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Survivors include 4 children Phyllis Dodds (James) of Adair, Illinois, Linda Robbins of Springfield, Illinois, Patsy Robbins of Sugar Creek, Missouri and David Robbins of Elmer, Missouri. 1 step-daughter Eileen Boyer of Bloomington, Illinois. 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson James Bryan Dodds , 1 step-son and 8 siblings.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the Ripley Cemetery with Pastor Steve Surratt officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
