Evalyn Worthington

Evalyn Gail Worthington, age 94, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:33 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

She was born December 14, 1922 in Pike County, Illinois the daughter of Charles Arthur and Flossie Hazel Dean.  She married Arthur Glenn Worthington on July 23, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2010. 

Mrs. Worthington worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company in Springfield, Illinois for 35 years, retiring in 1988.  She then worked at Mt. Sterling IGA for 10 years.  Evalyn attended Pike County Schools.    She was a member of the Timewell Christian Church and had also attended the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church.  Evalyn enjoyed volunteering for several years at the Cornerstone Christian Church Wednesday after school program and always enjoyed visiting with her many friends, especially at the ice cream socials in the area.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews including, Sharon (Gary) Williams of Pleasant Hill, Illinois, Theresa (David) Geisler of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Rodney (Debbie) Ingram of Springfield, Illinois. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Carolyn Ingram, 2 brothers Alvin and Arthur Winn Dean and 1 nephew Randy Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Dr. Steve Griffin, Pastor Matt Haberman and Pastor Steve Surratt officiating.

Burial will be in the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Timewell Christian Church or the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church.
