Joseph Dale Henninger, age 72, of La Prairie, Illinois passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

He was born August 15, 1944 in St. Joseph, Kentucky the son of James Anthony and Frances Pauline Weathington Henninger.  He married Mary Ann Rigg on August 14, 1963 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2015. 

Mr. Henninger worked for Celotex in Quincy, Illinois for over 35 years. 

He attended St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling and graduated from Brown County High School.

Mr. Henninger served his country in the United States Army from 1963 until 1966.

He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point, Illinois.  Joseph always enjoyed attending his church, model railroading and he especially loved caring for his dogs.

Survivors include 5 children Dale Henninger (Sandra) of Quincy, Illinois, Ann Kelley (Mike) of New Salem, Illinois and Tammy Henninger, George Henninger and Cathy Sullivan (Tim) all of La Prairie, Illinois.  5 grandchildren Jordan Laub (Luke) of Bowling Green, Missouri, Breanna Kelley of New Salem, Illinois and Jerrica Roth (Kevin), Jennifer Henninger and James Henninger all of Quincy, Illinois.  1 great grandson Mowgli Roth of Quincy, Illinois.  8 siblings Gilbert Henninger of Liberty, Illinois, Bob Henninger of Chambersburg, Illinois, Pat Archuleta of Reno, Nevada, Janet Houston of Peoria, Illinois, Laura Follis of Cadiz, Kentucky, Mary Ann Clark of Galesburg, Illinois, Loretta Vila Henninger of Lynnwood, Washington and Bernadette Earhart of Tonasket, Washington also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings Paul Henninger, Lois Henninger and Toni Versluys.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Tom Robbins officiating.   Military services will be conducted at the funeral home by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

Private burial will be in the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell, Illinois.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Faith Baptist Church.
