Lloyd Bridgewater

Lloyd E. Bridgewater, age 82, of Virginia, Illinois and formerly of Versailles, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born September 27, 1935 in Brown County, Illinois the son of Lloyd Otto and Garnett Mildred Smyers Bridgewater.  He married Christina Ann Kunkel on October 16, 1974 in Versailles, Illinois and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2010. 

Mr. Bridgewater worked in the trucking business for several years.

He graduated from Brown County High School.

Mr. Bridgewater served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957 where he attained the rank of Corporal.

Survivors include 2 children Patrick Bridgewater (Jessica) of Versailles, Illinois and Jennifer McCombs (Brian) of Virginia, Illinois.  5 brothers Tom Bridgewater of Liberty and Henry, Ray, Walter and John Bridgewater all of Peoria.  7 grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Harold Gene Bridgewater.

Per his request cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.

Burial of the cremains will follow in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
