Mary Eliza Kleinlein, age 93, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Heritage Health, Therapy & Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

She was born February 10, 1924 in Hersman, Illinois the daughter of H. Wayne and Zelma May Nothern Stewart.  She married Virgil Lyle Kleinlein on October 2, 1943 in Quincy, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2005.

Mrs. Kleinlein was a homemaker.  She attended Pleasant Hill School in Elkhorn Township of Brown County and graduated from Mt. Sterling High School with the class of 1942. 

Mrs. Kleinlein was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Christ in Mt. Sterling and was formerly a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown.

Mary was a 4-H leader for several years and was a member of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association, where she served as secretary for one term.

Survivors include 2 daughters Carol Kleinlein of Mt. Sterling and Peggy Vining (Jim) of Macomb.  5 grandchildren Penny Reische (Richard), Danny Vining (Heather), Gayle Wilson (Jeff), Laura Shake (Brice) and Jill Bialach (Brian) also survive along with 8 great grandchildren Annie & Zack Wilson, Mallory & Sabrina Vining, Tyler & Haley Shake and Zoee & Elena Bialach. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister Letty Kunkel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Charla Meyers officiating.

Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery south of Mt. Sterling.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
