Nancy Belle Tweedt, age 80, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

She was born December 28, 1936 in Versailles, Illinois the daughter of Everett “Duffy” and Bernice Robbins Logsdon.  She married William Roy “Bill” Tweedt on June 5, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling, and he survives.

Nancy was a homemaker and a loving caregiver to her special needs daughter Angela.  She also served the Brown County Ambulance service as both an emergency medical technician and secretary for over 29 years, retiring in 2014.

Mrs. Tweedt graduated from Brown County High School and then attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois.   She was of the Christian faith. 

Nancy served her community in numerous capacities including being a member of the Mt. Sterling City Council for several years, was a member of the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery Committee and was a member and past president of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post # 374 Auxiliary.  She truly loved the St. Louis Zoo and served as a sponsor for the St. Louis Zoo Association which afforded her the opportunity to go on an African photographic safari.  Nancy enjoyed golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.  She also loved listening to the music of Vince Gill, but her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s many school activities as they were growing up and she had a special place in her heart for her great grandchildren. 

Survivors include her husband William R. “Bill” Tweedt of Mt. Sterling.  1 daughter Cheryl Yingling (Mike) of Hersman.  2 grandchildren Chad Yingling (Branigan) of Mt. Sterling and Elizabeth Ann Staaland (Brett) of Glen Carbon, Illinois.  1 great grandson Brogan Michael Yingling.  1 step great granddaughter Avery Joy Staaland.  1 brother Wayne Logsdon of Mt. Sterling and 1 sister Doris Kleinlein of Quincy. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter Angela Tweedt and 2 great grandsons Gabriel and Tanner Yingling.

Per Nancy’s request private graveside services will be held in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
