Nancy Lee Yingling, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 8:01 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
She was born May 24, 1936 in New Holland, Illinois the daughter of William R. and Gesina Bartman Heinzel. She married Arthur Yingling on September 18, 1955 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Illinois and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1993.
Mrs. Yingling was a homemaker and earlier in life worked as a nurse for the Abraham Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois and also the Walter Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Nancy attended Logan County Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School. She then attended nursing school at Walter Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Yingling was a devoted member of the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church where she served the church in numerous capacities including teaching the 3 B’s Sunday School class for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Through the years Nancy served on several parent organizations at the Timewell and Brown County Schools and she along with her husband, served as 4-H leaders for several years. She was also a member of the Brown County Cancer Society.
Survivors include 7 children Michael Yingling (Cheryl) of Hersman, Illinois, John Yingling (Barb) and Bruce Yingling (Vada) all of Mt. Sterling, Mark Yingling (Karen) of St. Louis, Missouri, Larry Yingling (Kathy) and Gordan Yingling (Jeanne) all of Mt. Sterling and Katie Knobeloch (Norman) of Tremont, Illinois. 2 sisters Carol Winkowski of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Barbara Hopwood of Athens, Illinois. 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son David Yingling, 1 sister Wilma Auer and 3 great grandsons Gabriel, Tanner and Jamison Yingling.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the Becam Cemetery in Pea Ridge Township of Brown County with Pastor Angel Rosales officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church.
