Barbara Mohn Obituary

 

Barbara Dell Mohn, age 87, of Versailles, Illinois and formerly of Peoria, Illinois passed away at 11:50a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

She was born September 19, 1930 in Holland, Ohio the daughter of Harold E. and Adrian Hildreth Wood DeMent.  She married Elmer R. Mohn on April 26, 1976 and he survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Dianne E. Cook of Versailles, Illinois.  Two granddaughters Samantha D. Whiteaker (Ryan) of Sheridan, Illinois and Lindsey M. Bickett of Versailles, Illinois and two great grandsons Coy and Tate Whiteaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Robert A. DeMent and a half-sister Dianne O. Howie. 

Mrs. Mohn worked for Carter Paper and Packaging Company in Peoria for 22 years, retiring in 1990.  Barbara was also an avid quilter and crafter, having won many awards for her quilting and she donated quilts to the Versailles Senior Center yearly.   She was also known to be a cat lover and genealogy buff. Barbara was always a lady and had a wonderful dry sense of humor.  She will be greatly missed.

Per her request, cremation will be accorded and there will be no formal visitation or services.  There will be a celebration of her life at a later date, which will include a margarita machine and jazz music.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph’s Indian School of Chamberlain, South Dakota and may be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
