Freda Ann Parn, age 90, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 10:12 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.
She was born December 7, 1929 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Maude Dorman McGlauchlen. She married Richard Lee “Dick” Parn on June 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2003.
Freda attended the Little Missouri School near Kellerville, Illinois and had worked as a sales clerk for several local businesses including; The Penny Store, Western Auto, Country Roads and Kassing Lumber Company.
Mrs. Parn was a devoted member of the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post # 374 Auxiliary. Freda’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and she always enjoyed the coffee circle with her friends.
Survivors include 2 children Pamala A. Volk and Jeffrey L. Parn (Pam) all of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 6 grandchildren Richard Volk, Renee Volk, Rae Ann Peter (Jered), Bill Parn, Jed Parn (Lynsey) and Alisa Horton (Winston). 6 great grandchildren Lily, Owen, Grayson, Aly Rae, Georgie and “R.J.” Richard Jeffrey also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son-in-law Michael Volk, 2 brothers Richard and Donald McGlauchlen and 2 sisters Shelby Hubbard and Wanda Poland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 in the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church.
