Harold Lynol Dunn, age 93, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 12:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling. He was born August 4, 1926 in Schuyler County, Illinois the son of Clarence Allie and Ruby Ellen Kessinger Dunn. He married Esther C. Thomas on September 28, 1946 in Mt. Sterling and she survives. Mr. Dunn was employed by Schuyler-Brown FS and Two Rivers FS in Mt. Sterling for over 34 years, retiring in 2012. He attended Schuyler and Brown County schools. Mr. Dunn was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the United States Navy. He had attended the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling and always enjoyed fishing, hunting, ginsenging and trapping. Harold had also played guitar and harmonica for the Buggy Wheel Opry for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife Esther Dunn of Mt. Sterling. 4 children Rose Fisher (companion, Jim Harlan) of Jacksonville, Illinois, Tom Dunn (companion, Kay Gooud) of Barry, Illinois, Margie Martin of Knoxville, Illinois and Lonnie Dunn (Donna) of Quincy, Illinois. 1 son-in-law Harvey Lowe of Georgia. 1 sister Mona Gragg of Mt. Sterling. 11 grandchildren Teresa Wilcox (Scott), Jason Lowe (Gina), Micki Prevett (Gerald), Todd Fisher, Logan Dunn, Magan Hall (Tyler), B. J. Martin, Nikki Martin, Justin Dunn (Brandy), Miranda Dunn and Danielle Poppenhager (Todd). 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Alice Lowe, 1 son-in-law Phil Martin, 4 brothers John, Herbert, Carl and Glenn Dunn and 2 sisters Marjorie Dunn and Anna Mae Barker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Dan Dexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois. A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care Activity Fund.
