Louise Annette Huseman, age 73, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

She was born September 11, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Donald Lozelle and Mary A. McCutcheon Hofsess.  She married George Huseman on March 12, 1966 in the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church and he survives.  They were truly blessed to have just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016.

Mrs. Huseman served as a teacher in the Brown County School District at both the grade school and high school levels for 34 years retiring in 2000.  Louise especially enjoyed leading many students on educational trips to Europe.

She graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1962 and then graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1966.

Mrs. Huseman was a devoted member of the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church where she served her church in numerous capacities including chairman of the board, Sunday school teacher, a member of Christian Women’s Fellowship and was an Elder.  Louise was also a member of the Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association, the Illinois A. I. Chapter of T.T.T., Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Chapter Teacher’s Sorority and served on the Brown County Senior Citizens board.  She also served on the Brown County Board for several terms and had the distinction of being the first women to serve as chairperson of the Brown County Board.

Survivors include her husband George Huseman of Versailles, Illinois.  Louise was the last surviving member of the Hofsess family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per her request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church with Pastor Steve Surratt officiating.

Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery following the service.

Friends may call one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church.
