Mildred M. “Millie” Turner, age 89, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling.

She was born July 18, 1927 in Havana, Illinois the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Dare McCrady.  She married Harold Delbert Turner on August 26, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2004. 

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and had also worked for several years at the Brown County Courthouse in both the Treasurer’s and Supervisor of Assessment offices.

She attended Havana public schools and Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois.  Millie was active in both the Versailles Genealogical and Historical Society and the Versailles Senior Center.  She always enjoyed cooking, fishing, wildlife and spending time with her friends.

Survivors include two daughters Marcia Ward of Jacksonville, Illinois and Susan Bowen (Larry) of Mt. Sterling.  Four grandchildren Gigi Patterson of Jacksonville, Illinois, Eric Galloway (Tisha) of New Bern, North Carolina, Renee Blentlinger (Bob) and Jill Schenk (Eric) all of Mt. Sterling.  Ten great grandchildren Nathaniel and Seth Fisher, Ashton Blentlinger, Logan Clark, Clayton, Paul, Ann and Bo Schenk, Brandon Galloway and Blake Patterson.  Two brothers Charles McCrady (Rose) of Gillespie and Kenneth McCrady (Joan) of Springfield.  Two sisters Wilma Parkhurst of Waldron, Arkansas and DeEtta Hadley of Columbus, Georgia.  Her stepfather Bill Luckhart of Springfield also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond McCrady and mother Mildred Dare McCrady Luckhart and one great grandson Zachary Fisher.

Per her wishes, cremation will be accorded and private burial will be held at the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery at a later date.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Versailles Genealogical and Historical Society and be left at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
