Richard (Rick) Alan Barker passed away on April 28, 2019 in Brooksville, Florida after
fighting lung cancer for 8 months.
He was born on December 6, 1947 to Richard E Barker and Bette Vivian Barker in
Blessings Hospital in Quincy Illinois. He is survived by his brother Reginald Barker of
Tucson, Arizona.
Rick attended Brown County High School, graduating in 1966. He later studied at
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois.
Rick served his country as a United States Marine and considered the USMC as his
“clan”. He was an active member of the Marine Corps League and was a vocal
supporter for Veteran’s rights.
Rick worked for Barker Brothers Equipment Company in Mt Sterling, the Illinois State
Lottery in Chicago and ran the The Diner cafe in Quincy, Illinois before retiring to Florida
in 2001.
He will be missed by those who loved him and for those who didn’t, well you know what
he would say.

Per his request, cremation has been accorded and military honors will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail and the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post # 374.
There will be no visitation.
