Rodger Lee Leftridge, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, Illinois.
He was born July 29, 1939 in Macomb, Illinois the son of Roy Lee and Lois Mason Leftridge. He married Cheryl Porter Rogers on October 20, 1973 in Macomb, Illinois and she preceded him in death on November 15, 2013. He later married Carol Porter Shepherd on April 27, 2014 and she survives.
Mr. Leftridge worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for over 31 years, before retiring in 2001.
He graduated from Western High School in Macomb, Illinois with the class of 1958.
Mr. Leftridge was a member of the Timewell Baptist Church. Rodger was also a member of the UAW Local No. 974 and had served on the board and as vice president of The Pregnancy Resource Center in Rushville, Illinois where he also volunteered for several years. He was also an avid baseball fan who especially enjoyed watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife Carol Leftridge of Mt. Sterling. 4 children Reggie Leftridge (Pam) of Versailles, Randy Rogers (Kelly) of Frankfort, Illinois, Gay Lynn Poteet and Richard Leftridge both of the Kansas City area. 1 granddaughter Peri Rogers of Frankfort, Illinois. 3 step children Marc Moody of Springfield, Becky Hesse (Buck) of Rochester and Terri Shepherd (Jeff) of Timewell. 1 sister Sandy Wilhelm of Colchester also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Ron Leftridge.
Per his request cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday March 2, 2019 in the Timewell Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Gadberry officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Timewell Baptist Church.
