Betty Lou Perry, age 87, of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 2:35 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
She was born September 6, 1936 in Ray, Illinois the daughter of Glen Allen “Jim” and Fredda Marie Lamma Vance. She married William Alvin “Steve” Perry on February 9, 1954 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2018.
Mrs. Perry along with her husband and son owned and operated Perry Elevator in Timewell, Illinois for over 50 years.
She graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1954.
Betty was a devoted 70 year member of the Timewell Baptist Church, where she served the church in numerous capacities over the years. She was also a member of the former Timewell American Legion Post #1059 Auxiliary and was a current member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post # 374 Auxiliary.
Survivors include 3 daughters Paula Hannant (John) of Timewell, Illinois, Belinda Hovan (Michael) of Alsip, Illinois and Nancy Perry (Dr. Michael Gadson) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 1 daughter-in-law Sherry Perry of Timewell, Illinois. 7 grandchildren Leslie Easley (Kelly), Jenny Koch (Karey), Stephen Perry (Alison), Alana Hannant, Lindsey Opyd (Mike), Elizabeth Binnendyk (Mark) and Melissa Perry. 16 great grandchildren. 2 great great grandchildren. 2 sisters Rose Brooks of Quincy, Illinois and Phyllis Vanzant of Mt. Sterling, Illinois also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Stephen Perry, 4 brothers Ed Vance, Dick Vance, Bill Lamma and Bob Lamma and 3 sisters Ruth Vance Perry, Isabelle “Punkin” McClelland and Inez McNeff.
Cremation will be accorded and a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Timewell Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Gadberry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer or Timewell Baptist Church.
