Cael Allen Welty, age 8, of Golden, Illinois passed away at 5:54 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Cael was born October 25, 2013 in Springfield, Illinois and just completed the 2nd grade at Central Elementary School in Camp Point.
Cael always enjoyed playing baseball, wrestling, and fishing. He especially loved going turkey hunting with his Popa. He was very proud of his Uncle Jared and always said he wanted to be a police officer just like him.
Cael was a very active, happy young boy, with a contagious smile and a kind heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his parents Joel and Jackie Welty of Golden, Illinois. 2 brothers and 1 sister Wyatt Elledge, Hunter Welty and Adleigh Welty all at home. His paternal grandparents Greg Welty of Mt. Sterling and Jeanette and Dennis Blickhan of Mendon. Maternal grandparents Richard and Rebecca Rhodes of Pittsfield and Michele Long and Michael Bivens of Camp Point. Paternal great grandparents Luther and Janet Welty and Robert and Sandra Kemper all of Mt. Sterling. Maternal great grandparents Jerry and Barbie Long of Paloma, Gaylord and Jo Rhodes of Pittsfield and Gay and Carole Williamson of Griggsville. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including uncles Jared Welty (Maddie Stringer) of St. Charles, Missouri and Brody Bivens of Clayton. Aunt Kelly Rhodes of Fulton, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by a sister Madelynn Faith Welty in infancy, his maternal great grandmothers Terry Schaffnit and Judith Bivens, aunt Kylee Bivens, great aunt Sarah Kemper and great uncle Steve Kemper.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Steve Surratt and Logan Myers officiating. Those unable to attend are invited to watch Cael’s funeral service live on the funeral home website hendrickerfuneralhome.com.
Burial will follow in the Becam Cemetery in Brown County.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
