David Liehr

David Russell Liehr, age 78, of Springfield, Illinois and formerly of Meredosia and Perry, Illinois passed away Sunday morning, October 15, 2023 at The Bridge Care Suites in Springfield, Illinois. 

He was born October 26, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Leonard and Frances Walker Liehr.  He married Judy E. Jardine on January 24, 1975 in Springfield, Illinois and she survives. 

Mr. Liehr owned and operated Antarctic Refrigeration and Heating in Springfield, Illinois for 30 years.  

He graduated from Meredosia Chambersburg High School with the class of 1962 and then received his bachelor’s degree from Sangamon State University in Springfield.  

Mr. Liehr served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1967 where he served as a Medical Corpsman primarily in Germany. 

David was a member of the Lakeside Church of Christ in Springfield and was known as an avid reader. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially cutting wood but what he enjoyed most was simply spending time with his family and his church family.

Survivors include his wife Judy Liehr of Springfield, 2 Children Benjamin Liehr and Heather Liehr both of Springfield. 3 grandchildren Devan Goldsberry, Colton Goldsberry and Greyson Liehr also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 in the Lakeside Church of Christ, 65 Rita Road, Springfield, Illinois 62712. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church.  

Graveside services will then be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Illinois.  Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.  

Memorials are suggested to the Lakeside Church of Christ in Springfield.
