David Vorwerk

David Lee Vorwerk, age 81, of Rushville, Illinois passed away at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his residence. 

He was born March 14, 1942 in Burlington, Iowa the son of Arthur and Dora Doran Vorwerk.  He married Deloris L. Willey on November 7, 1969 in Macomb, Illinois and she survives. 

Mr. Vorwerk graduated from Burlington Senior High School.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966.  

David retired from N.T.N. Bower in Macomb, Illinois and had also worked at IRC in Burlington, Iowa from 1961 until 1975.  

Survivors include his wife Deloris of Rushville, Illinois.  Stepson Kevin Willey (Wendy) of Versailles, Illinois.  3 grandchildren Kyle Willey (Kylie) and Katie Summers (Jeff) all of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Kelsey Herder (Jeff) of Friendship, Texas.  4 great grandchildren Greyson, Gavin, Gracie and Tinley also survive along with 3 brothers Michael, Larry and Chris all of Burlington, Iowa.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023 in the Versailles West Side Cemetery with Chaplain Jim Smith officiating.  Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail and the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374. 

There will be no visitation. 

Memorials are suggested to the Great River Honor Flight and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
