Erica Markert

Erica Ann Markert, age 43, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at her residence.

She was born November 1, 1977 in Jacksonville, Illinois the daughter of Robert Guy and Gayle L. Bradbury Howard.

Erica was a talented hairdresser in Mt.Sterling for several years and truly loved the time spent with her many clients. She was simply known as someone who was fun, funny and beautiful.   

Survivors include 3 sons Tristin Hobson of Quincy, Illinois, Rory Anakin Bauer of Quincy, Illinois and Abram Bauer of Jacksonville, Illinois. Her mother and step father Gayle and Dale Gallagher and her father Robert Howard all of Versailles, Illinois. 1 sister Heidi Welty of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 1 brother Jon (Glynda) Koch of Versailles, Illinois. 3 step sisters Carrie (Joe) Cox of Griggsville, Illinois, Anita (Mark) Read of Versailles, Illinois and Sarah Gallagher of Meredosia, Illinois. 

Erica was also loved by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and her former husband and longtime friend and companion Jason Markert of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Dutch and Hazel Howard and her maternal grandparents Raymond and Irene Bradbury.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 in the Versailles Christian Church with Pastor Dale Gadberry and Pastor Nathan Worstell officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. 

Memorials are suggested to the family.
