George Cross

George Owen “Bub” Cross, age 83, of rural Versailles, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his residence. 

He was born June 20, 1938 the son of George William and Lillian Elizabeth Morrell Cross.  

George worked as a mechanic for Illinois Valley Paving in Winchester, Illinois for over 30 years.  

He attended Cooperstown Schools and always enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Survivors include 2 children Bill Cross (Angie) of Mt. Sterling and Sherry Perry (Steve) of Timewell.  1 sister Essie Mattson of Versailles.  3 grandchildren Steven Perry (Alison), Leslie Easley (Kelly) and Hannah Cross (Jason).  5 great grandchildren Haylie, Holden, Elsie, Lincoln and Eric also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson Joseph Cross and 1 sister Alice Fay Kiser.  

Per his request, cremation will be accorded and there will be no services.  

Memorials are suggested to Ducks Unlimited and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
