Geraldine McCaskill

Geraldine Melissa Ann Moore McCaskill, age 100, of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mt. Sterling. 

She was born May 6, 1919 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Russell Dennison and Carrie Emma Schug Moore.  Geraldine was 13 years old when her mother passed away and at this early age she began her life as a loving homemaker.  Geraldine attended Pea Green School, Timewell High School and graduated from Mt. Sterling High School with the class of 1937.  She joined the Timewell Baptist Church under Rev. Cull while Rev. Hopkins was there as an evangelistic service on October 18, 1931 at the age of 12.  Mrs. McCaskill remained a devoted member of the church until her death, where she had served in numerous capacities, including being active in the Missionary Society and teaching Sunday School. 

Geraldine married Floyd Leroy McCaskill on October 10, 1940 and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary before he passed away on December 16, 1998.  

Earlier in life Geradline worked as a beautician for Mrs. Helmer in Mt. Sterling.  

She served as a member of the Brown County Home Extension, the Illinois Pollettes Association and was the last living member of the Glutton Club.  Gerry was known as an excellent cook and cooked many years for Hereford visitors. She loved gardening and embroidering, but her greatest joy was the time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Survivors include 3 sons Ronald Leroy McCaskill (Ruth) of Clayton, Illinois, Gary Lee McCaskill (Sandra) of Timewell, Illinois and Randall Kay McCaskill (Kris) of Clayton, Illinois.  6 grandchildren Tamatha Sue McCaskill Kitchell (Ralph), Allen Leroy McCaskill, Carrie Lynn McCaskill Schmidt, Sara Beth McCaskill Mulacek (Colin), Matthew Richard McCaskill (Erin) and Megan Marie McCaskill Volk (Todd).  16 great grandchildren Derek Anthony Kitchell (Cheyenne), Emily Sue Kitchell, Carter Schmidt, McKenzie Schmidt, Mason Schmidt, Kate McCaskill, Claire McCaskill, Tait McCaskill, Paige McCaskill, Cole Mulacek, Hayden Mulacek, Reagan Mulacek, Dylan Mulacek, Peyton Volk, Cody Volk and Whitley Volk.  2 nieces, Marjorie Moore and Carolyn Thorman also survive along with numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 granddaughter Julie Lynn McCaskill. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2020 in the Timewell Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Gadberry officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell, Illinois. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.  Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. 

Memorials are suggested to the Timewell Baptist Church.
