Grace Vose, age 65, of Chambersburg, Illinois passed away at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was born September 7, 1955 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Thomas Claire and Mary Regina Mae Roate Hester. She married Larry Russell Vose on December 14, 1990 in Beardstown, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2016.
Grace worked as a heavy equipment operator through Local #965 in Springfield, Illinois for 27 years, retiring in 2014.
She attended Brown County High School and was of the Catholic faith.
Grace also served her country in the United States Navy for several years with the Navy Seabees.
She always enjoyed line dancing with her husband and was known to have the ability to fix anything and especially loved being able to help anyone in need.
Survivors include 6 children Angel Hamilton (James Kitchell) of Timewell, Illinois, Tommy DeWitt of Chapin, Illinois, Michael DeWitt (Janelle) of Chapin, Illinois, Gina Hayes (Jeff) of Jacksonville, Illinois, Nathaniel Davidson (Shelby) of Meredosia, Illinois and Kristen Davidson of Perry, Illinois. 12 grandchildren Ty Hamilton, Ayden DeWitt, Skylar Beal, Drew Hayes, Cloe Phillips, Keaton Davidson, Kayden Davidson, Allie Dunmire, Owen Dunmire, Gracie Dunmire, Lexi Dunmire and Emilia Howard. 2 brothers Randall Hester (Charlotte) and Maurice Hester (Jackie) all of Versailles, Illinois. 3 sisters Rosemary Jackson of West Point, Illinois, Sandra Perry (Greg) of Meredosia, Illinois and Debra Davidson of Versailles, Illinois. 1 sister-in-law Marcia Vose Holdsworth (Wally) of Prescott, Arizona also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson Tommy Hamilton, 1 brother Claire Hester and her father and mother-in-law J. R. and Bessie Jane Vose.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Deacon Paul Koch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Illinois. A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Rotary Club Foundation.
