Graydon Sides

Graydon Dale Sides, age 93, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 8:47 a.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020 at his residence. 

He was born January 28, 1927 in Versailles, Illinois the son of Lewis Wayne and Mary Lucinda Davis Sides.  He married Barbara Anne Yeakel on September 24, 1955 and she survives. 

Mr. Sides worked for the Illinois Farm Bureau, FS Farm Services in Scott County, Illinois and had owned and operated a soil testing business for several years.  

He attended Versailles schools and also attended the University of Illinois in Champaign.  

Mr. Sides was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the United States Army. 

Graydon was an avid Fighting Illini and Chicago Cubs fan and always enjoyed fishing.  

Survivors include his wife Barbara Sides of Versailles, Illinois.  5 children Vicky Jackson of Wildwood, Missouri, Richard Sides of Versailles, Illinois, Mark Sides of Versailles, Illinois, Kurt Sides of Jacksonville, Illinois and Mary Wiese of Versailles, Illinois.  1 sister Shirley Moore of Timewell, Illinois also survives along with 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Robert and Stanley Sides. 

Due to the current health concerns a private graveside service will be held in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.  A military service will be conducted by the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail. 

There will be no visitation.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Brown County Ambulance Service and may be left or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
