Harriet “Hedy” Galloway Ewing, age 67, of Jacksonville, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was born February 11, 1954 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Donald Harvey and Mary Louise Clostermery Galloway.
Hedy worked in advertising at the Anchorage Times Newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska, was a sales consultant at Beltmann North American Van Lines in West Des Moines, Iowa and served as an administrative assistant in marketing and public relations at Des Moines Area Community College in Des Moines, Iowa for several years. Later she worked as the Meal Site Coordinator at the Brown County Senior Citizens Center in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and served as secretary for the First Christian Church in Mt. Sterling where she was also a member.
Survivors include her four children Jamie Larson of Blairstown, Iowa, Heidi Larson and Brian Larson both of Des Moines, Iowa and Joshua Ewing of Summerville, South Carolina. 12 grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Jackson and Julionna Larson, Anthony Larson, Graham and Justin Runge and Jamison, Lillian, Hunter and Everett Ewing. 7 siblings Robert “Bob” Galloway, Vicky Scott, Susan Huddleston, Jay Galloway, David Galloway, Terry Hicks and Richard Galloway.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family service will be held.
Family will be available to meet with extended family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the American Legion Hall in Mt. Sterling.
