Judy Lou Wagner, age 69, of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 4:46 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
She was born October 16, 1953 in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of Charles Ernest, Sr. and Mary L. Lashbrook Buxton. She married Wayne F. Wagner on August 14, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling and he survives.
Mrs. Wagner was a home economics teacher and FCCLA sponsor at Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling for over 30 years, retiring in May of 2016.
Judy graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1971 and then received both her bachelor’s and master's degrees from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling. Judy always enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, fishing, turkey and deer hunting and was known as an excellent cook, but those who knew Judy realized her entire life revolved around her children and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Wagner of Mt. Sterling. 5 children Darren Wagner, Eric Wagner (Joni), Mark Wagner all of Mt. Sterling, Lisa Holden (Casey) of Hamilton, Indiana and Gary Wagner (Kristen) of Mt. Sterling. 11 grandchildren Adalyn, Ayden, Layla, Keaton, Kyzer, Kynnady, Kayson, Evie, Boone, Brooks and Briley. 1 brother Ernie Buxton (Debbie) of Mt. Sterling. 2 sisters Cindy Thompson (John) and Charla Meyers all of Mt. Sterling also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling with Father Aaron Kuhn officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery or St. Mary’s School.
