Michael Lee Seawalt, age 73, a resident of Prairie Village Healthcare Center in Jacksonville, Illinois and formerly of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 3:31 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born December 5, 1946 in Ilwaco, Washington the son of Kenneth Dwaine and Edna May Rigg Seawalt.
Mr. Seawalt was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Michael had worked as a farmer and also worked for Caterpillar in Burlington, Iowa and Kodak in Jacksonville, Illinois.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church both in Mt. Sterling. Michael enjoyed working with his hands, listening to music and playing cards and he truly loved playing the board game Risk.
Survivors include 2 sisters Janice Leverton (Russell) of Mt. Sterling and Linda Hoots of Jacksonville. 5 nephews and 1 niece also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Patricia Seawalt, 1 brother Kent Seawalt and a brother-in-law Roger Hoots.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Deacon Mike Ellerman officiating. A military service will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail at the funeral home.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Following the services cremation will be accorded and private burial will be held in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School.
