Norma Geane Smith Obituary

 

Norma Geane Smith, age 92, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 5:49 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.  

She was born July 27, 1929 in Pike County, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Lora Mae Robbins Todd.  She married Donald Eugene Smith on March 13, 1948 in Pittsfield, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2019.  

Geane was truly a loving caregiver to numerous children in the area for many years. 

She attended Perry Springs School in Brown County and also attended Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ.  Geane also enjoyed going to flea markets, toy shows and air shows with her husband. 

Survivors include 1 sister Shirley Carr of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters Marjorie Duesthaus, Virginia Queen, Grace Josephine Ferrill and Laura Mae Neaterour and a nephew Carl Neaterour, who was raised in their home. 

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021  in the Marden Chapel Cemetery in Brown County with Rev. Richard Young officiating.

There will be no visitation. 

Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
