Patricia Parker Obituary

 

Patricia Rose “Pat” Parker, age 85, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 1:14 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at her residence.  

She was born January 7, 1936 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois the daughter of Otto Albert and Frances Elizabeth Hammer Shoopman.  She married Donald Francis “Buck” Parker on June 1, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2002.  

Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and also worked as a cook for St. Mary’s School in Mt. Sterling for over 30 years.   

Pat graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.    She was also active with the Holy Family Women’s Guild, where she assisted with numerous funeral dinners over the years.  Pat was truly all about family and especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren.  

Survivors include 5 children Susan Fry (Gary) and Becky Pruden (John) all of Versailles, Illinois, Bill Parker (Kim) of Rushville, Illinois, Teresa Personett (Steve) of Pittsfield, Illinois and Ed Parker of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.14 grandchildren Kenzie Brocksieck (Aaron), Suvannah Flesner (Michael), Wendee Heinecke, Keaton Heinecke (Mollee), Parker John Pruden, Danielle Hea (Joe), Jakob Parker (Grayce), Kirsten Guthrie (Dustin), Alicia McCarl (Justin), Kenna De Fina (Adam), Shelby Mager, Elke Britt (Beau), Caitlyn Hulvey (Adam) and Abby Cooley (Levi).  17 great grandchildren also survive and she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of three more great grandchildren.   1 sister Betty Parker of Clayton, Illinois.  2 brothers Louis “Butch” Shoopman (Mary Jane) of Springfield, Illinois and Jerry Shoopman (Lila) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 1 grandson Derrick Buss, 2 sisters June Traylor and Mary Knous and 5 brothers Robert, Orville, Donald, Eugene and Richard Shoopman. 

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.  

Burial will follow in the Hersman Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.   

Memorials are suggested to the Hersman Cemetery Association or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
