Paula Jane Hannant, age 68, of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 7:21 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born January 30, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of William Alvin “Steve” and Betty Lou Vance Perry. She married John A. Hannant on June 12, 1982 in the Timewell Baptist Church and he survives.
Paula worked as a lab technician for Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois for 46 years retiring in 2021.
She graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1974 and then earned her associate’s degree with the Blessing School of Medical Laboratory Technology through Quincy College in 1976.
Paula was a lifelong member of the Timewell Baptist Church, having served the church in numerous capacities. She was also dedicated to her community, where she volunteered for several area charities and was instrumental in the establishment of Brown County Against Cancer which has assisted many local residents over the past several years.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Hannant of Timewell. Two daughters Jenny Koch (Karey) and Alana Hannant (Troy Stailey) all of Rushville. Five grandchildren Kelsy, Katelyn, Skyler, Ava and Sadie. Two great grandchildren Everleigh and Olivia. Two sisters Belinda Hovan (Michael) of Alsip, Illinois and Nancy Perry (Dr. Michael Gadson) of Mt. Sterling. Two sisters-in-law Sherry Perry of Timewell and Betty Miller (Richard) of Pittsfield. Two brothers-in-law Ed Hannant (Millie) of Perry and Wayne Hannant of Mt. Sterling. Two aunts Rose Brooks of Quincy and Phyllis Vanzant of Mt. Sterling also survive along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother Stephen Perry.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024 in the Timewell Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Gadberry officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family or to Brown County Against Cancer.
