Peggy Ballenger

Peggy Joan Ballenger, age 81, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 4:28 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021 at her residence. 

She was born June 27, 1940 in Versailles Township of Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Charles Ilbert and Emma Candace Root Snyder. 

She married Anthony Reathaford and to this union four children were born Janet, Sheila, David and Teresa.  She later married Loren Ballenger and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2008.  

Peggy was a homemaker.  She attended Cooperstown and Hersman schools and graduated from Brown County High School.  

Peggy was a former member of the Cooperstown Christian Church.  

Survivors include 4 children Janet Lewis of Rushville, Illinois, Sheila Fluckey (Michael) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, David Reathaford (Lisa) of Versailles, Illinois and Teresa Todd (Melvin) of Woodson, Illinois.  1 brother Bill Snyder of Versailles, Illinois.  1 sister Donna Quinn (Ronald) of Strafford, Missouri.  9 grandchildren also survive along with 4 great grandchildren and she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her 5th great grandchild.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother David Snyder.  

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois

There will be no visitation.  

Memorials are suggested to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
