Shirley Howard

November 30, 1928 ~ October 8, 2021 (age 92)



Shirley Ann Howard, age 92, of Decatur, Illinois passed away at 11:42 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at HSHS St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Illinois.

She was born November 30, 1928 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Glen and Leona Wagner Meats. She married Arthur Theodore Howard on June 19, 1958 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2014. 

Shirley worked as a bookkeeper in the Decatur, Illinois area for several years. 

She always enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, visiting with her extended family and she especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include 3 grandchildren Karen Elder and Kevin Howard both of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Kris Howard of Warrensburg, Missouri. 5 great grandchildren Brittany, Olivia, Carson, Xalin and Jaxson. 1 great great granddaughter Lacey Ann. 1 sister in law Rosalie Patton of Mt.Sterling and 1 brother in law James Howard of Springfield also survives along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and daughter in law Jack and Lyn Howard and a brother in law Wendell Dale Howard. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday October 16, 2021 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. 

Burial will follow in the Hersman Cemetery. 

There will be no visitation. 

The state of Illinois has mandated that masks are required for those attending the services.
