Wendel Reische

Wendel Lee Reische, age 82, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, Illinois.  

He was born October 24, 1939 in Brown County, Illinois the son of Roland Oliver and Mildred Gertrude Long Reische.  He married Darlene Grist on January 10, 1959 and she survives. 

Mr. Reische was a lifelong farmer, who was known to be a hard worker and enjoyed living a simple life. 

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1957.  

Mr. Reische had served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

Wendel enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles and loved tinkering in his workshop. 

Survivors include his wife Darlene Reische of Versailles.  2 children Richard Reische (Penny) and Kathy Golliher (Steve) all of Mt. Sterling.  1 granddaughter Lauran Golliher of Mt. Sterling.  1 brother Lynn Reische of Timewell also survives along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers James Robert and Phillip Reische and 1 sister Laura Belle Tice. 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell, Illinois with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. 

There will be no visitation. 

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
